In the 14th century, the Gasthof zur Post was built in the center of Kochel.

It gained its special importance during the stagecoach era due to its ideal location.

The inn was on the Munich - Innsbruck route and became an important station for changing horses.

At the same time, the traditional inn received the right to tavern.

On June 1, 1908, the Wolfgang Suttner family from Hartenstein took over the Gasthof zur Post from the Thomas brewery in Munich and bought it in 1917.

1956 son Johann Suttner and his wife Therese became the hosts

In 1994 their son Wolfgang Suttner and his wife Elfriede took over the Gasthof zur Post

In 2008 the Suttner family celebrated the centenary

In 2009 Wolfgang Suttner jun. Landlord of the Gasthof Hotel zur Post and runs the business together with his wife and mother in the 4th generation
